Museum de Fundatie is one of Zwolle's most distinctive cultural attractions, housed in a former courthouse built in the neoclassical style. Its most eye-catching feature is the 'cloud' – a futuristic glass-and-steel structure perched on the roof, added in 2013 to provide additional gallery space and a panoramic view of the city. Inside, the museum presents a rotating selection from its extensive collection, which spans from 16th-century Dutch paintings to modern and contemporary art. Visitors can expect to see works by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, and Karel Appel, alongside temporary exhibitions that often focus on a single artist or theme. The contrast between the historic building and the contemporary addition makes the museum itself a work of art. The top-floor gallery under the cloud offers natural light and a unique perspective on the surrounding cityscape.
