Neeltje Jans is a unique artificial island that serves as both a monument to Dutch engineering and a family-friendly theme park. Located in the Oosterschelde estuary near Veere, it was originally built as a work island during the construction of the Delta Works. Today, visitors can explore interactive exhibits on water management, see a working storm surge barrier up close, and visit a seal sanctuary that cares for injured seals. The park offers a mix of education and recreation, with a water playground, a 4D cinema, and boat trips on the Oosterschelde. The seal sanctuary is a highlight, where you can watch feedings and learn about marine conservation. The island's location provides stunning views of the surrounding waters and the Oosterscheldekering barrier.
