The Rietveld Schröder House is a landmark of modern architecture and a prime example of the De Stijl movement. Built in 1924 for Truus Schröder-Schräder, the house challenges traditional notions of domestic space with its flexible, open-plan layout. On the ground floor, a traditional arrangement of rooms contrasts with the upper floor, where sliding walls can transform a single open area into separate bedrooms. The exterior is a striking composition of planes and lines in red, blue, yellow, black, white, and gray. Visitors can explore the house on guided tours, which provide insight into the innovative design and the collaboration between Rietveld and Schröder. The house remains largely as it was in the 1920s, with original furniture and fixtures.
