The Binnenhof, meaning 'inner court', is the heart of Dutch politics and one of the oldest parliament buildings in the world still in use. Located in the center of The Hague, this complex of medieval buildings surrounds a picturesque courtyard. Visitors can walk through the courtyard and admire the Gothic architecture, including the iconic Ridderzaal (Knights' Hall), where the King gives the annual Speech from the Throne. The complex is also home to the Prime Minister's office and the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament. While the interior is not generally open to the public, guided tours are available on Saturdays when parliament is not in session. The Binnenhof's central location makes it a perfect starting point for exploring The Hague's historic center.
