The Binnenhof is a striking medieval complex in the heart of The Hague, serving as the seat of the Dutch Parliament (Staten-Generaal). Surrounded by a serene moat, its Gothic architecture and cobblestone courtyards transport visitors back in time. The central courtyard, known as the Binnenhof, is open to the public and offers views of the historic Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights), where the monarch delivers the annual Throne Speech. Guided tours provide insight into the political history and current workings of Dutch democracy. The complex also houses the Prime Minister's office and the Ministry of General Affairs. Visitors can explore the surrounding Plein square, lined with cafes and statues of political figures. The Binnenhof is not just a tourist attraction but a living center of governance, making it a unique blend of history and contemporary politics.
