Delfshaven is one of Rotterdam's oldest neighborhoods, having survived the bombing of 1940 largely intact. Its charming streets are lined with 17th-century buildings, canals, and a historic harbor. The area is famous as the departure point of the Pilgrim Fathers in 1620 aboard the Speedwell, before they transferred to the Mayflower. Today, Delfshaven is a vibrant district with a mix of residential homes, antique shops, cafes, and restaurants. Visitors can explore the Oude Kerk (Old Church), the Pilgrim Fathers Church, and the small but fascinating Museum Delfshaven. The harbor is still active with historic ships and offers a picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll. The neighborhood also hosts a weekly market and various cultural events.
