The Basilica of Saint Servatius is the oldest surviving church in the Netherlands, located on the Vrijthof square. This Romanesque basilica, built between the 11th and 13th centuries, is dedicated to Saint Servatius, the first bishop of Maastricht. Visitors are struck by its imposing westwork, twin towers, and richly decorated interior, including the bronze doors and the shrine of Saint Servatius in the crypt. The church remains an active place of worship and a pilgrimage destination, drawing visitors for both spiritual and architectural reasons.
