Poptaslot, also called Heringa State, is a beautifully preserved manor house located in the village of Marssum, just a short distance from Leeuwarden. Built in the 16th century, it offers visitors a glimpse into the life of the Frisian nobility. The interior is richly decorated with period furniture, intricate woodcarvings, and a notable collection of Delftware. The surrounding gardens are equally charming, featuring a formal layout with hedges, flowerbeds, and a small orchard. Guided tours take you through the grand halls, the kitchen, and the attic, where you can see original beams and a collection of historic tools. The manor is still owned by the Poptaslot Foundation and is open to the public during the summer months.
