Valkenswaard War Cemetery is a Commonwealth burial ground located in the town of Valkenswaard, just south of Eindhoven. It contains the graves of over 200 soldiers who died in World War II, many during the liberation of the Netherlands in 1944-1945. The cemetery is characterized by its neat rows of white headstones, each bearing the soldier's name, rank, and regiment, as well as a personal inscription chosen by their families. The site is bordered by hedges and trees, creating a quiet, contemplative space. The Cross of Sacrifice stands at the rear, and the cemetery is maintained to the highest standards by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Visitors often note the poignant contrast between the peaceful setting and the violence that brought these soldiers here.
