The Dordtsche Kil is a tidal river channel that separates the island of Dordrecht from the Hoeksche Waard region. This waterway offers a peaceful escape from urban life, with gentle currents and wide views over the surrounding polders. Visitors can enjoy boating, kayaking, or fishing along its banks, where herons and other waterbirds are common sights. The channel's grassy dikes provide excellent walking paths, and there are several small jetties for launching small craft. The area feels wild and open, especially at sunrise or sunset when the light plays on the water.
Don't miss
- Boat trips along the channel to spot wildlife
- Fishing from the dikes or small piers
- Walking or cycling on the dike paths with panoramic views
- Birdwatching for herons, geese, and ducks
- Sunset photography over the water
