De Brave Hendrik is a well-preserved windmill located in the town of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, near Dordrecht. Built in the 19th century, this smock mill (a type of tower mill) stands as a testament to the Netherlands' rich milling history. Visitors can tour the interior to see the original wooden gears, millstones, and living quarters of the miller. The windmill is still operational on occasion, grinding grain for demonstration purposes. The surrounding area includes a small park and walking paths, making it a pleasant stop for a leisurely afternoon. The mill's distinctive octagonal shape and thatched roof make it a photogenic landmark against the flat Dutch landscape. It is a protected national monument and a popular spot for those interested in industrial heritage and traditional Dutch craftsmanship.
