Oostkapelle offers a quintessential Zeeland experience: a peaceful village with a rich history, set against a backdrop of dunes and forest. The village center is dominated by the 13th-century Protestant church, with its distinctive tower and Gothic details. Surrounding the church are traditional houses and a few local shops. The main attraction, however, is the Manteling van Walcheren, a protected nature area that encompasses dunes, woodlands, and the beach. This landscape is a mosaic of ancient dune forests, grassy slopes, and winding paths that lead to a wide, sandy beach. The Manteling is particularly known for its rich biodiversity, including rare orchids and a variety of bird species. A popular walk is from the village through the dunes to the beach, passing by the historic 't Huys ter Wege estate. The beach itself is less crowded than at Domburg, offering a more serene seaside experience. Oostkapelle also has a small museum, the Terra Maris, which focuses on the natural and cultural history of the Zeeland landscape.
