The Twentekanaal is a major canal that runs from Deventer eastwards into the Twente region. Its banks are lined with paved paths popular with cyclists, joggers, and walkers. The canal is wide and busy with recreational boats and barges, adding a lively atmosphere. Along the route, you'll pass through green landscapes, small locks, and occasional picnic spots. The path is flat and well-maintained, making it ideal for a leisurely ride or a long walk. In Deventer, the canal begins near the city center, offering easy access. The canal is especially pleasant in spring and summer when the trees are in leaf and the water sparkles. It's a practical and scenic way to explore the outskirts of Deventer and beyond.
