The Markiezaatskade is a long dike and causeway that stretches across the Markiezaatsmeer, connecting the mainland near Bergen op Zoom to the island of Tholen. A dedicated bicycle path runs along the top of the dike, making it a popular route for cyclists and walkers seeking wide-open views of the lake and surrounding polders. The area is known for its abundant birdlife, and the dike itself is an impressive feat of engineering, part of the Delta Works flood protection system.
