The Pyramid of Austerlitz is a striking earthen pyramid rising 36 meters above the Utrechtse Heuvelrug forest. Built in 1804 by French soldiers under General Marmont, it commemorates Napoleon's victory at the Battle of Austerlitz. Visitors can climb to the top for sweeping views of the wooded landscape, with a stone obelisk marking the summit. The site includes a small visitor center and café, making it a popular stop for hikers and cyclists exploring the area. The pyramid's grassy slopes and surrounding parkland provide a peaceful setting for picnics and leisurely walks. Despite its modest height, the pyramid's unique history and commanding position make it a distinctive landmark in the Netherlands.
