Perched at 3,440 meters, Namche Bazaar is the primary acclimatization stop and commercial hub for Everest trekkers. Its horseshoe-shaped amphitheater is lined with lodges, gear shops, internet cafes, and bakeries serving fresh pastries. The Saturday market draws Sherpas from remote villages to trade goods. From the surrounding hillsides, visitors can catch first glimpses of Everest and Ama Dablam. The town also houses a small museum and a statue of Tenzing Norgay. It's a lively, colorful introduction to Khumbu culture.
