Janaki Mandir, also known as the Nau Lakha Mandir, is a magnificent three-storied structure built in a unique fusion of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles. Dedicated to Goddess Sita, it is the most iconic landmark in Janakpur. Visitors are awed by its white marble facade, intricate latticework, and 60 rooms, each adorned with colorful glass and paintings. The temple buzzes with devotees, especially during festivals like Vivah Panchami, when the marriage of Rama and Sita is reenacted. Inside, the sanctum houses an idol of Sita, and the surrounding gardens offer a peaceful retreat.
