Shwemawdaw Pagoda is a major religious site in Bago, renowned for its soaring golden stupa that rises 114 meters above the plains. The pagoda is believed to enshrine relics of the Buddha, including two hairs, and has been rebuilt several times after earthquakes. Visitors can climb the broad platform to circumambulate the shrine, admire the intricate hti (umbrella finial), and take in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The gleaming structure, especially striking at sunset, draws pilgrims and tourists alike for its spiritual significance and architectural grandeur.
