The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Baluarte, built in 1522, is one of the oldest European structures in the Southern Hemisphere. Located at the northern tip of the Island of Mozambique, it was part of the Fort of São Sebastião complex. The chapel's Manueline-style architecture features a simple stone exterior with a vaulted interior. It served as a place of worship for Portuguese sailors and soldiers. Today, it stands as a serene landmark overlooking the Indian Ocean, offering a tangible link to the Age of Discovery.
