The Zawiya of Moulay Idris II is a sacred complex in Fes el Bali dedicated to the founder of Fez, Moulay Idris II. It is a major pilgrimage destination, especially during his annual moussem. The shrine features exquisite Marinid-era decoration, including colorful zellij tilework, carved cedar, and a silver-encrusted tomb. Non-Muslims can view the interior from a designated area but cannot approach the tomb. The surrounding streets are lively with vendors and pilgrims.
