The Marinid Tombs are the remnants of a 14th-century royal cemetery perched on a hill north of Fez. Although the tombs are largely in ruins, the site is a popular destination for its breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city, including the ancient medina and the surrounding hills. The tombs themselves consist of crumbling stone walls and arches, with a few partially intact structures. It's a quiet, contemplative spot, especially at sunset when the city lights begin to twinkle. The site is free to enter and provides a unique perspective on Fez's layout and history.

Don't miss

  • Take in the sweeping view of Fes el Bali, with its dense cluster of buildings and minarets.
  • Explore the ruined stone tombs and imagine the site's former grandeur.
  • Visit at sunset for golden light and a peaceful atmosphere away from the medina's bustle.
