Aït Benhaddou is a historic fortified village, or ksar, in the Atlas Mountains, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. This remarkable cluster of earthen buildings, surrounded by defensive walls, once served as a key stop for caravans trading salt, gold, and slaves between the Sahara and Marrakech. Visitors can wander through narrow alleys, explore restored homes and granaries, and climb to the top of the hill for panoramic views of the surrounding valley. The site has also been a backdrop for numerous films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones, adding a layer of cinematic allure to its ancient authenticity.
