Sveti Đorđe Island is a small, natural islet in the Bay of Kotor, distinguished by its ancient Benedictine monastery founded in the 12th century and a serene cemetery that has been used for centuries by the nobility of Perast. Unlike its artificial neighbor Our Lady of the Rocks, this island is covered in lush greenery and cypress trees, giving it a tranquil, secluded atmosphere. Visitors can only view the island from the water, as it is not open to the public, but the boat trip around it offers a glimpse of the monastery's Romanesque architecture and the peaceful burial ground.

Don't miss

  • View the 12th-century Benedictine monastery from a boat tour.
  • See the historic cemetery shaded by cypress trees.
  • Photograph the island's natural beauty and contrast with the artificial Our Lady of the Rocks.
