Risan is one of the oldest settlements on the Bay of Kotor, dating back to the Illyrian era. Its main attraction is the Roman Villa with stunning floor mosaics depicting mythological scenes, discovered in the early 20th century. Visitors can walk through the small archaeological museum and see the ruins of the ancient city walls. The town itself is quiet and less touristy than Kotor, with a charming waterfront and a few cafes. The mosaics are considered the finest of their kind in the Balkans, making Risan a must for history enthusiasts.
