The Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage site that encompasses the well-preserved medieval old town of Kotor and its extensive fortifications. The old town features a maze of narrow streets, squares, and Romanesque churches, including the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon. The fortifications, which climb the steep mountain of St. John, date mostly from the Venetian period and offer spectacular views over the Bay of Kotor.
