The Zoological Garden of Monaco (Jardin Animalier de Monaco) is a compact zoo situated on the slopes of the Rock, near the Prince's Palace. Established in 1954, it houses around 250 animals representing about 50 species, including primates, big cats, reptiles, and birds. The enclosures are designed to blend with the natural terrain, offering animals spacious habitats with views of the Mediterranean. Visitors can see lions, tigers, lemurs, and monkeys, as well as exotic birds like flamingos and parrots. The zoo focuses on conservation and education, with informative signs about each species. Its cliffside location provides a unique backdrop, and the relatively small size makes it easy to explore in an hour or two. It's a family-friendly attraction that offers a glimpse into the animal kingdom without the crowds of larger zoos.

Don't miss

  • Close-up views of lions, tigers, and leopards in cliffside enclosures
  • Interactive lemur island where lemurs roam freely (supervised)
  • Colorful flamingos and other exotic birds in a pond setting
  • Educational talks and feeding sessions (check schedule on arrival)
