The Alley of Classics is a serene, tree-lined pedestrian path in Chișinău's central park, dedicated to the luminaries of Moldovan and Romanian literature. Created in the 1950s, it features a series of bronze busts mounted on stone pedestals, each representing a celebrated poet, writer, or thinker, such as Mihai Eminescu, Ion Creangă, and Grigore Vieru. Visitors can meander along the alley, reading the names and dates, and appreciate the sculptures set against a backdrop of greenery. It's a popular spot for both leisurely walks and cultural reflection, often serving as a prelude to visiting the nearby National Museum of Romanian Literature.

Don't miss

  • Find the bust of Mihai Eminescu, Romania's national poet, often adorned with fresh flowers from admirers.
  • Read the engraved quotes on the pedestals that capture each writer's essence.
  • Visit during the annual Bookfest or poetry readings when the alley comes alive with literary events.
