The Saudeleur dynasty was the ruling power on Pohnpei from around 1100 to 1628 AD, known for constructing the impressive megalithic city of Nan Madol. This historic site consists of a series of artificial islets built with massive basalt logs, creating a complex of canals, temples, and tombs. Visiting Nan Madol offers a glimpse into the advanced engineering and social organization of this ancient civilization, set amidst a mangrove forest and lagoon. It remains a place of great cultural and archaeological significance.
