Punta Cometa is a prominent cliff and protected nature reserve at the southernmost point of Oaxaca's coast, jutting into the Pacific near Zipolite. A short hike through dry tropical forest leads to a rocky viewpoint with sweeping vistas of the shoreline and open ocean. During winter months (December–March), visitors can spot humpback whales breaching offshore. The site is also a sacred spot for local indigenous communities, who perform ceremonies here. The sunrise and sunset views are spectacular, making it a favorite for photographers and nature lovers.
