Baluarte de Santiago is the sole remnant of the fortified wall that once encircled Veracruz. Built in the 17th century, this stone bastion defended the port from pirates and foreign attacks. Today, it houses a small museum with exhibits on naval history, ship models, and archaeological finds from the region. Visitors can explore the thick walls, climb to the rooftop for views of the harbor, and imagine the city's colonial past. Its compact size makes it a quick but insightful stop for history buffs.

Don't miss

  • View the collection of historic cannons and artillery pieces on display
  • Climb to the bastion's upper level for panoramic harbor views
  • Examine maritime artifacts and ship models in the museum
