Lake Arareco is a serene alpine lake located about 10 kilometers from Creel, encircled by dense pine and oak forests. Its calm, clear waters make it a favorite spot for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing (trout and bass). The lakeside also offers picnic areas and hiking trails, while a small Rarámuri settlement nearby provides an opportunity to purchase traditional crafts and learn about local culture. The setting is particularly beautiful in autumn when the foliage turns golden.
Don't miss
- Rent a kayak or canoe to paddle across the tranquil lake and enjoy mountain views.
- Hike the forested trails around the lake, especially the path to a viewpoint overlooking the water.
- Visit the Rarámuri community to see traditional dwellings and buy handwoven baskets or pottery.
