St. Paul's Catacombs in Rabat are among the earliest evidence of Christianity in Malta, dating from the 4th to 7th centuries AD. This extensive underground cemetery features over 500 tombs carved into soft limestone, including agape tables for funeral feasts. Visitors can explore a portion of the labyrinthine tunnels, seeing loculi (shelf tombs), arcosolia (arched tombs), and fragments of frescoes. The site offers a fascinating glimpse into early Christian burial practices and Roman-era life in Malta.
