The Mdina Cathedral Museum, adjacent to St. Paul's Cathedral, is housed in a former seminary building. Its galleries display a rich array of ecclesiastical art, from medieval wooden statues to Baroque paintings by Mattia Preti and other masters. The numismatic collection spans ancient Greek, Roman, and Maltese coins, while the print room holds engravings by Dürer and Rembrandt. Visitors can also see liturgical vestments, silver reliquaries, and a rare 15th-century processional cross. The museum provides context for the cathedral's history and the island's Catholic heritage.

Don't miss

  • Mattia Preti's dramatic painting 'The Beheading of St. John the Baptist'
  • The coin cabinet featuring over 5,000 specimens, including Phoenician and Byzantine issues
  • The collection of intricate silver monstrances and chalices from Maltese silversmiths
