Fort Saint Elmo is a formidable star-shaped fortification at the tip of Valletta's Sciberras Peninsula. It played a crucial role during the Great Siege of 1565, when the Knights of St. John held out against the Ottoman Empire. Today, visitors can explore the ramparts, bastions, and the restored interior, which houses the National War Museum. The museum displays artifacts from Malta's military history, including the George Cross awarded to the island. The fort's strategic location offers sweeping views of the Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour.
