St. Paul's Hill is a historic site in Malacca that offers a serene escape with panoramic views of the city. At its summit stand the ruins of St. Paul's Church, originally built by the Portuguese in 1521, where St. Francis Xavier was once buried. The hill also features a Dutch cemetery and an open-air statue of St. Francis Xavier, erected in 1953. Visitors can wander among the weathered tombstones and enjoy the cool breeze while reflecting on the area's colonial past.

Don't miss

  • See the roofless St. Paul's Church and its ancient tombstones with Portuguese and Dutch inscriptions.
  • Find the marble statue of St. Francis Xavier, which has a missing hand from a lightning strike.
  • Walk through the Dutch cemetery, the final resting place of colonial officials and their families.
