The Astana, built in 1870 by Charles Brooke as a wedding gift for his wife, is a grand colonial mansion set amid lush gardens along the Sarawak River. While the interior is not open to the public, visitors can enjoy guided tours of the beautifully landscaped grounds, which feature tropical plants and historical monuments. The building's striking white facade and riverfront location make it a Kuching icon.
