The Sabah Museum is the primary museum in Kota Kinabalu, housed in a modern building inspired by traditional Rungus longhouse architecture. It features comprehensive galleries on Sabah's history from prehistoric times to the present, indigenous cultures (including costumes, musical instruments, and crafts), and natural history (including flora, fauna, and geology). Outdoor exhibits include a heritage village with traditional houses from various ethnic groups.
