The White Ernz (Wäiss Iernz) river valley is a charming landscape of rolling hills, open meadows, and clear streams, located near Beaufort. The river gets its name from the lighter color of its water compared to the Black Ernz, due to the limestone bedrock. This valley serves as a popular starting point for hikes into the Mullerthal region, often called 'Little Switzerland' for its rocky terrain and dense forests. Trails here are well-marked and range from easy walks along the river to more challenging climbs up to viewpoints. The valley is dotted with traditional Luxembourgish farmhouses and small bridges, offering a pastoral setting. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely day out, with plenty of spots for a picnic or a rest by the water.

Don't miss

  • Scenic hiking trails with views of the valley and surrounding hills

  • Wildflower meadows in spring and summer
