The Black Ernz (Schwaarz Iernz) is a river that flows through a picturesque valley in the Mullerthal region, near Beaufort. The river is named for the dark color of its water, which comes from the surrounding forested slopes and rocky beds. This area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering opportunities for kayaking on gentle rapids, as well as peaceful nature walks along the riverbanks. The valley is characterized by lush greenery, moss-covered rocks, and small waterfalls, creating a serene atmosphere. Visitors can follow well-maintained trails that cross the river via footbridges and lead to hidden grottos and viewpoints. The Black Ernz is less developed than the White Ernz, providing a more rugged and intimate experience with nature.
