The Gate of Dawn is the only surviving city gate of Vilnius's original defensive wall, now a cherished Catholic shrine. Visitors ascend a narrow staircase to a small chapel where the miraculous painting of the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn, is displayed. Pilgrims from around the world come to pray before this dark, ornate icon, leaving offerings and lighting candles. The gate's exterior still shows its medieval fortification origins, while the interior exudes quiet reverence. It's a place where history and faith converge, offering a glimpse into Lithuania's spiritual heritage.
