Senieji Trakai is a historic village just east of Trakai, recognized as the original settlement of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was here that Grand Duke Gediminas established his capital before moving it to Vilnius. The village retains a quiet, rural character with wooden houses, a small church, and the hill of the original castle ruins. Visitors can stroll through the village, visit the Church of the Annunciation, and absorb the atmosphere of Lithuania's medieval birthplace.
