Sacred Heart Cathedral is the main Catholic church in Vientiane, a striking example of neo-Romanesque architecture with twin bell towers and a rose window. Built in 1928 during the French colonial period, it serves the local Catholic community as well as expatriates. The interior features high vaulted ceilings, wooden pews, and stained-glass windows depicting biblical scenes. The church is active, with regular masses held in Lao, English, and sometimes French. Visitors are welcome to enter and admire the serene atmosphere, but should dress modestly and remain quiet during services.
