The Ascension Cathedral, also known as Zenkov Cathedral, is a striking Russian Orthodox church built entirely of wood without nails. Its vibrant colors, blue, white, and gold, make it one of Almaty's most photographed landmarks. The cathedral survived the 1911 earthquake and stands as a testament to fine craftsmanship.
