The Madaba Map is a remarkable 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land, covering the floor of St. George's Church in Madaba. Originally measuring about 25 by 5 meters, the surviving fragment depicts Jerusalem at its center, with detailed labels of cities, rivers, and the Dead Sea. Created by Byzantine artisans, it is the oldest surviving original map of the Holy Land and a vital resource for biblical geography. Visitors can view the map through protective glass, with interpretive panels explaining its significance. The church itself is a active Greek Orthodox place of worship.
