Jalul is an archaeological site located southeast of Madaba, featuring a prominent tell (mound) that contains layers of ancient settlement, primarily from the Iron Age. Though less excavated and visited than major sites like Madaba's archaeological park, Jalul offers a raw, uncommercialized experience for history enthusiasts. Visitors can walk over the tell, see exposed stone foundations, and imagine the site's past as part of the biblical Kingdom of Moab. The surrounding landscape is arid and dramatic, adding to the sense of discovery.

Don't miss

  • Climb the tell for panoramic views of the surrounding Moabite plateau
  • Examine exposed Iron Age wall foundations and pottery shards
  • Enjoy the solitude and sense of exploration at this little-visited site
