Iwashimizu Hachimangū is a venerable Shinto shrine perched on Mount Otokoyama in Uji, dedicated to the god of war and archery. Founded in 859, it is one of Japan's most important Hachiman shrines. Visitors ascend via a scenic cable car or hiking trail, passing through a majestic torii gate. The shrine's main hall, a designated Important Cultural Property, commands sweeping views over Kyoto. Its tranquil grounds, dotted with ancient trees and vermilion structures, provide a peaceful escape from the city.
