Fushimi Inari-taisha is a prominent Shinto shrine in Uji, dedicated to Inari, the god of rice and prosperity. It is renowned for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that line paths up Mount Inari, creating a striking tunnel effect. Visitors can hike the trails, passing smaller shrines and offering a panoramic view of Kyoto from the summit. The main shrine buildings at the base feature intricate carvings and fox statues, considered messengers of Inari. The experience is both spiritual and scenic.
