Magome-juku charms visitors with its picturesque setting and well-preserved Edo-era architecture. Unlike Tsumago, Magome sits on a slope, offering sweeping views of the Kiso Valley from its upper reaches. The main street is paved with cobblestones and lined with restored inns, souvenir shops, and museums. It is the southern terminus of the popular Nakasendo hike to Tsumago, making it a hub for hikers and history enthusiasts alike.
Don't miss
- Stroll the cobblestone main street with its traditional wooden buildings and craft shops.
- Enjoy panoramic views of the Kiso Valley from the top of the town.
- Visit the Magome Wakihonjin Museum, a former sub-inn with exhibits on the Nakasendo.
