Takayama Jin'ya served as the administrative headquarters for the Hida region during the Edo period and is one of the few remaining daimyo government buildings in Japan. Visitors can tour the original rooms, including the tatami-matted audience hall and the magistrate's office, which offer insight into feudal governance. The museum displays artifacts such as documents, maps, and tools that illustrate the area's history and the role of the outpost in managing the region's resources, particularly timber and crafts.
Don't miss
- See the original audience hall where the magistrate conducted official business.
- Examine exhibits of Edo-period documents and maps detailing regional administration.
- Walk through the preserved gardens and storehouses that complete the compound.
