Aoba Castle, also known as Sendai Castle, was the fortress of the Date clan, one of Japan's most powerful feudal families. Today, the site is a public park with stone foundations, reconstructed gates, and a museum displaying armor and artifacts. Visitors can walk the grounds, enjoy sweeping views of Sendai from the main keep platform, and learn about the castle's history through exhibits. The statue of Date Masamune on horseback is a popular photo spot.
